Endure

The people who were here when the Europeans landed are still here. Their survival and persistence are no small achievement when the story of America’s “founding” and continued western expansion are seen from the eyes of the Arawak. Americans have no more authentic connection to the origins of this land than do our most recent refugees. The dismantling of cultures was deliberate and unrelenting, and yet “the people” survived and continue to share special ancestral traditions and ways handed down through generations.
